The La Prima gives you more torque and Asetek's engineering, but it costs $280 more and scores lower on our rubric than the Alpha EVO Sport 9. For value the Simagic wins clearly, and it drops you onto Simagic's 21-bit encoder and upgrade ladder into the bargain.
So the La Prima only makes sense if Asetek's industrial build and the extra 3 Nm matter enough to pay well over the odds. For most buyers at this level, the Sport 9 is the smarter money and the more sensible on-ramp.
